According to Egbert, technology is a wonderful tool to use for building communication skills. I agree! However, as a kindergarten teacher, I feel somewhat limited. Most of my students are unable to write or type what they want to say. Therefore, I would be the one actually using the technology to record their dictations. I feel that my more advanced students could handle typing sentences/stories, doing email through kidmail.net, or talking to pen pals through http://www.epals.com/, but most of my students would not be able to do it on their own. I still see the value of such technology use, but I feel younger students would not benefit as much as older ones.

Voicethread and Comic life are both tools that must be used in a age appropriate format. Voice thread is not something that most elementary students could use withour a teacher instructing the whole time. I do think that it is something that could be used to help elementary kids understand things better because they are very visual learners at that point. Comic Life is the same because it allows you to add a lot of pictures and a lot of content the only difference is the voiceover is not there.
