What Is Technology Integration?

Simply stated, technology integration in education is the use of technology to teach others. This means more than simply training students to use a computer or other type of technology. It is teaching students how to utilize the technology to enhance learning across the curriculum. By using a variety of available technology, teachers can teach to all modalities in an effort to reach all students.
For technology integration to effectively occur, three things are required. First, and most importantly, technology integration requires teachers who are willing to learn about new technology available and to incorporate that technology in lessons they plan for their students. Once the teachers are on board, the technology must be made available to them. Finally, teachers need proper training on how to use the technology. They must become comfortable with it themselves before they feel confident enough to try it with their students.
